Arizona Chapter Annual ACP Scientific Meeting

The Arizona Chapter of ACP holds and annual Scientific Meeting with representation from all subspecialties of Internal Medicine. Each year, our program participates in multiple aspects of the conference including: 

  • Poster presentations - case reports, research, or QI

  • Verbal Case Vignette - of one of our hospital's most interesting cases of the year

  • Doctors' Dilemma - a jeopardy-style competition where teams of four residents  from each of the residency programs in Arizona compete for points and bragging rights


We encourage fellowship applicants from all fields to submit abstracts for this conference, as well as residents with hospitalist aspirations. Several of the winners from this conference go on to compete at the national convention.

SGIM Mountain West Regional Meeting

High Value Ideas Competition

How can we improve the quality or reduce the cost of care at BUMCP? You see opportunities every day and it is your time to act! All residents and fellows are invited to submit your individual or group idea(s).

Submissions are usually due in November and the shark tank pitch is held around November

American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Conference

The major conference for GI learning and development. In addition to opportunities to present research and case presentation posters, this conference also offers residents a unique opportunity to participate in Practice Management Courses to hone skills and learn up to date patient care skills. Usually held in October

Digestive Disease Week

A prestigious GI conference held every year in May. There are many categories accepting research. Occasionally, they will also accept case presentations. 

Southwest Liver Disease Symposium

A symposium developed by Banner Health and endorsed by the AGA Institute brings together several world-renowned experts to discuss the most updated and relevant topics in general hepatology and liver transplantation.

TRAVEL REQUEST

The first step is to request the time off from the chiefs.

After chief approval, complete the below Resident Travel Request form for Travel Approval.

 

You have up to $1500 in travel funds to use, per academic year, if you are the 1st presenter at a conference.

 

Please complete the attached Resident Travel Request and email it to the travel processor Cassandra KEe (@Cassandra.Kee@bannerhealth.com) with the following items, at least 45 days prior to travel. (Request form on 1st page, receipts/estimates on the following pages so I receive 1 attachment).

 

(Please note: Reserve your flight and hotel directly with the vendor. Banner will not reimburse if you use 3rd party agencies such as Hotwire, Travelocity etc. In addition, Travel Approvals can take several weeks to receive, so you can start making your reservations now.)

 

  1. Flight receipt (or a copy of an similar flight showing cost)

  2. Hotel receipt (or a copy of a similar hotel rate estimate)

  3. New! Transportation estimates (Include a snip from Lyft/Uber from airport to hotel, hotel to airport)
